Dubai, United Arab Emirates – Former Pakistani President, General Pervez Musharraf, has passed away today at the age of 79 in a hospital in Dubai. He was suffering from Amyloidosis, a disease caused by the buildup of a protein called amyloid in organs, leading to impaired organ function.

Musharraf was born in Delhi, India, in August 1943 and became the President of Pakistan in 1999 after a military coup. He served as the President from 1999 to 2008, making him the longest-serving military ruler in Pakistan’s history. He was also the Chief of Army Staff from 1998 to 2007.
